Redding, CA…L.A…Flagstaff, AZ
Hello everyone!
Well, here we are about two weeks into our cross-country adventure—and having a blast! It feels like we’ve been gone at least twice that time…we’ve packed so much in already that it feels like a complete vacation right now. In addition to all the good times and memories we’ve made over the last week or two, we have also (in typical Grant style) managed to get through (by God’s grace) a fair amount of chaos! but more on that later.
Almost ready to go!!!
We’ve done quite a bit of driving so far (we’re currently in Williamsburg, VA), but our longest day to date was our very first one—down to L.A. We had some sway issues with the trailer for the very first time (got them sorted out by the next driving day, though), so it was a looong twelve hours! Everyone was more than ready for bed by the time we arrived in San Dimas; we divided up the trailer-prep tasks, and things went surprisingly quickly. We’ve been timing ourselves with the goal of continually beating the previous day’s record. J
We had a blast the next day
(Sunday/Mother’s Day/Levi’s 7th birthday). Victoria was super blessed to be able to see her
amazing College Plus coach again and talk for a couple hours at a nearby
park…family + coach + In N’ Out = a good afternoon! This was such a neat way to
wrap up the academic part of my college journey. In the evening, Mom took us
kids over to Cal Poly Pomona (where she went to school) and we were able to see
the Arab barn where they keep their broodmares and babies. For the horse-crazy Grants, there is hardly a better way to spend an evening! Love
these little guys!!!
Baby wouldn't hold still, but you can still see how cute this little filly was...
Cal Poly had a nice campus...
The next day (Monday) saw us driving to Flagstaff, AZ…unfortunately a similar situation with arriving late and all, but everyone was a trooper. We’re getting good at the whole get-the-trailer-ready-in-the-dark thing! Flagstaff was just a stop on the way to NM, so we headed off early the next morning after picking up a few Arizona souvenirs.
Off to Albuquerque!!!
